Danese/Corey is pleased to announce the opening of Common Threads curated by gallery staff member Brent Auxier. The exhibition consists of works by eight artists of a new generation who explore the infinite possibility of textiles, conveying a range of visual experiences through its tactility and the transformation of aesthetic principles within the medium.

The artists participating in the exhibition address shared themes and subjects in a variety of surprising and diverse combinations, each artist lending their distinct voice to this survey of textile’s role in the process of modern art making. Themes of Identity, Mysticism, Gender, Loss, Memory, and the Body are the connective tissue between works included in the exhibition. Common Threads seeks to explore the lineage of a medium once primarily considered craft and its utility as a conduit for contemporary artists to express themselves in a unique and personal way.
