“Yes, summer was rituals, each with its natural time and place. The ritual of lemonade or ice-tea making,

the ritual of wine, shoes, or no shoes, and at last, swiftly following the others, with quiet dignity, the ritual

of the front-porch swing.” –Ray Bradbury, Summer Rituals

Danese/Corey is pleased to announce the opening of In the Summertime, curated by Associate Director Brent Auxier. Included in the exhibition are eleven artists who depict the psyche of the season; each capturing the fleeting moments of anticipated vacations, energetic family reunions, and poolside afternoons, as well as the quiet introspection uniquely offered by beach havens, country homes, or flower gardens. Whether one’s experience is shaped by annual destinations, thrilling and hopeful in their rarity, or in the sweltering city streets that are familiar and destined to grow cold again, the season sets the stage for the activities, energy, and rituals that are distinctly “summertime”.
